Craighill was the first place in Livingston to be
constructed between 1966 and 1971 and with it brought "The Mall" in
the heart of Craigshill and claims to be the first covered shopping centre in Scotland.
The Mall remained Livingston’s main shopping centre
until 1977 when the Almondvale was constructed. The Mall was later renovated
and the centre was split in two with a supermarket at one side and at the other
remained some smaller shops, bank hairdressers, bookmakers, chip shop etc.
