Deans South is located in the North of Livingston the area comprises of 241 houses. In October 2004 all residents received a letter from West Lothian Council including 85 who had bought there houses advising that the houses were unsafe and that the had to be demolished. Many of the homes have unsafe fire insulation, leaking roofs, unstable walls and rotten timbers. All Council residents have been moved to new housing, but some of the housing is still occupied after the council offered the residents £40,000 each for there homes.
