The
LDC building known by the locals was the first
building to be constructed within the town. Work began
in August 1963 when the then Secretary of state, Mr.
Michael Noble, started a machine which drove the first
foundation pile into the ground. He described the event
as an important one for scotland, Mr Noble Claimed that
although it was too early to say in detail what form
Livingston would take, the town would be completely
different from anything that had gone before.
