Does anyone know of the origins of the name of Muireston, is it a local name or originate from somewhere else.

Hi Russ, I'm not sure on that one buddy. There is a book out just now all about Livingston so the answers may be in there. I'm waiting on a loan of my mates book to read when he's finished with it

Its possibly a shortening of Muir (moor) of Houston, found on old maps of the area of Murieston, part of the estate of Houston House in Uphall.
