Will be glad to see in knocked down, was a bit of an eye sore for years like Pentland House. Both buildings were and are in a terrible state inside.

Seen the photo of the new Primark due to be build on the site, hope it looks better built, and it does on the drawing (It look to bland in my opinion)

Some pictures I've taken throughout the week. Its really speeded up now they've done the high bit next to the road, it'll only take a few weeks and it will all be gone.

Said this to a couple of people, isnt it nice to have our council where, when the buildings are no longer needed or particularly useable they have been taken down, unlike in Edinburgh with the big flats at Sighthill having sat empty for nearly two years, or the school at Saughton which has sat vacated and boarded up for nearly 5 years, in a city where land is at a premium and worth a fair few bob.

You spot on! West Lothian Council are good at getting the buildings knocked down! Thats Lamuirhouse, West Lothian House and there was also the council building next to the Video Drive- In.

West Lothian House and Pentand House arent the nicest of buildings - But will be missed...

They've also taken down the building that the Social Work dept was in, the grass is well grown and there isn't much trace of it.

Also there is something already being built on the land at Bathgate where the old council offices were.

The council came under some stick for compromising over the sale of West Lothian House to Land Securities, but on one hand we can have a fair bit of money coming into the council and the land used for something purposeful or it could sit there with no income, deteriorating further with no money coming to the council with added security costs.

Well done the council for a well managed move to the new headquarters and for quickly selling and demolishing old offices.

Been keeping an eye on this - I've amassed a couple of hundred photos of it getting munched up over a few weeks: here's a quick shot:

That's a new Council building to replace Lindsay House. Heard someone mentioning the other day the new building is going to be named after James Young Simpson, so probably Simpson House or something similar. It's supposedly going to replace several other Council buildings in Bathgate, if I recall from when the idea was first advertised it's going to be the new home for Batgate Library, the community centre and the Adult Learning Centre (down at the roundabout opposite Krop & Co). The new building is scheduled to open in the middle of 2011.

Here's one (of many) I snapped of the demolition of WLH:

For good measure, here's an archive photo of WLH (Sidlaw House as it was back then) being built, taken some time around 1981:
