Within Scotland, the town of Livingston can be located in the region known as West Lothian. In 1962, the smaller communities of Livingston's neighboring villages were incorporated into the bigger community of Livingston, transforming Livingston into a "new town." On the Shotts line, the trip time from Glasgow Central Station to Livingston South is, whilst the journey time from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Central Station is half an hour, respectively.

Livingston is connected to the other towns and cities in the surrounding area via a network of bus routes that run frequently into and out of the city.

There are many more routes just like these, some of which include the following: Route 21 connects Whitburn and Bathgate; Route 40 connects Livingston's St. John's Hospital to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary; Route 262 leads to Dundee; and so on. Both pedestrians and cyclists can make use of the system of major routes that are given by the extensive network of principal trails in the area.

Education and scholastic pursuits

A large number of preschools, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, private schools, and special education institutions can be found in and around the neighboring city of Livingston.

There are both primary schools in the borough, and all of them have been given outstanding ratings. Regarding secondary education, the region is serviced by Inveralmond Community Secondary School, St. John's Secondary School, St. John's Secondary School, and St. John's Secondary School. Despite its status as the key heart of Scotland's "Silicon Glen,"  Livingston is surprisingly green, with a large number of green areas that are kept in good condition.

In addition to having serene walking pathways and beautiful gardens, there is also a heritage center and children's animal farm. The additional facilities that are offered include things like playgrounds, sports facilities, skate parks (Yellowstone National Park), Jeff Bridges, horseback riding, and soft play areas. Beecraigs Country Park, spans 913 acres and can be reached in around 15 minutes.

Regardless of the time of year, the city of Livingston offers a wide variety of entertaining activities for people of all ages. There are children's beach parties held on a monthly basis, bowling in Deer Park, a gym and soft play area at Xcite Livingston, and aerial courses.

Protection from harm and criminal behavior

The Livingston Round Table, which describes itself as "a social club with a social conscience that tries to make a constructive contribution to the local community," is aided by the collaboration between the West Lothian Council and the Lothians and Scottish Borders Division of Police Scotland.
