A fire started outside the Co-Op at Livingston South station at about 2:30am this morning and quickly spread to the roof. At the height of the blaze around 40 firefighters were tackling it.

The building was so badly damaged by the fire that demolition crews arrived this morning and by mid-afternoon the building was just a pile of rubble. They will be working on clearing the site over the next few days.

Here's a couple of phonepics of what remains of the building, taken about an hour ago:

Is it just me or has there been a spate of these recently? What with the chippy in Howden and the couple of attempts on Grand Central, and over on Facebook someone was saying that they had a stable block burnt down in a deliberate fire recently.
