The River almond flows through Livingston. The River's source is the Hirst Hill which is in Shotts. The river meanders its way through the town out towards the Firth of Forth at Cramond. The River was created around 60,000 years ago during the last ice age. The name Almond is an old Celtic description for a river. The river is 25 miles long.
