Livingston has two railway stations one is located in the Murieston part of livingston and is called Livingston South. The other is called Livingston North and is located in Carmondean. Livingston North train station was completed around 1985-86. Funding for the project was provided by the European Regional Development fund. In its first year the line carried half a million passengers and exceeded all expectations.
